About
b. 1993
Artist based in Norfolk and London
"Through her practice Claudia aims to create a discourse between the flat and the sculptural while exploring the tension between abstraction and representation. Deconstruction and transformation play a predominant role in her work as she explores the three-dimensional possibilities of two-dimensional surfaces and vice versa. Using sculpture, photography, digital manipulation and painting she works to challenge the viewer’s perception. She finds inspiration in printed media that indicates a three-dimensional reality by schematic means such as maps and instruction manuals. A focus on the physical context of both production and display contributes to a structural aesthetic as her work is often dictated by architectural elements of the spaces in which she works and exhibits. Working in a site-specific manner she aims to explore the physical conditions of the exhibition space, recording ephemeral events such as moving shadows in an attempt to give solid form to their presence in that space."
